Verse of the Day: Ephesians 1:18 "The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,"

Driving the F250 farm truck has been, to say the least, a bit unnerving at times. You glance out the driver's side window and are greeted with an empty mirror bracket. You glance up at the top center of the windshield and see nothing.

Mirrors are a very important part of the driving experience, especially backing up, and one on the passenger side just doesn't cut it. We are used to seeing the broader picture.

So, as you can see from the above picture, I put the snapped-off mirror in the vise. I welded a bolt onto what was left of a metal stud, and soon restored sight to whomever drives the truck.

They say hindsight is 20-20. In other words, looking back we see what we should have done differently. but the road, so to speak, is already past. So why glance back? Doesn't Paul say in Philippians 3:13 that he forgets the past, reaching forth to the future? Like when we drive, we can't stare at the mirrors, or we will come to a sudden and deplorable end! Yes, but there are also times to look back. Consider Isaiah 51:1:

Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock [whence] ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit [whence] ye are digged.

We glance back and see the transforming power of God in our lives, the miraculous things He has done for us, and it strengthens us as we focus again on what lies before us.

Also, Eph. 5:15

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Circumspectly means literally "looking in a circle", or looking around. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us we have an adversary that we are to be vigilantly watching for him. He loves to sneak up behind us.
